On Sunday evening, Paula and I will leave Bangkok for…
Samui Sunrise
For two days in a row, Paul and I have awakened before 6am. Sunrise in Samui is beautiful with a pinkish-orange sky, roosters crowing and dogs barking in the distance. The first early morning, we decided to go on a walk into the small town. We were fortunate to see Buddhist monks on their morning walk, but unfortunate to meet growling dogs. The second morning, I sat on the deck and took this picture of the sunrise. I feel so fortunate to enjoy such a sight.
Today, Paul agreed to get a Thai massage with me. Thai massage was a first for both of us. My tiny Thai friend from the day before gave me a big smile and a hug when she saw me. We changed into our comfy Thai massage linen outfits which I threatened to steal so I can lounge in them forever. The spa ladies asked us if we wanted our massage soft, medium, or hard. Learning from the day before, we went for medium. It was great! We think we will do it again tomorrow. Maybe we’ll try a Thai massage place in town, where for $5 we can get tortured by a different tiny Thai lady.
We just had lunch at an amazing restaurant called Haad Bang Po, on a beautiful beach, on clear blue ocean water. Haad was recommended by Joe at hotel reception. We had Pineapple Fried Rice, Tom Yum Goong, Basil Chicken, fresh whole coconut, lemon iced tea & a giant bottled water for $16. It was incredibly good. It seems that a woman and her sons run the place. She came out and chatted with us after cooking, inquiring where we are staying and for how long.
We may go back for dinner!
keep writing! I’m vicariously enjoying your guys’ journey.
Hey guys, loving these posts……keep ’em up!
Sounds (& looks) like you are off to an amazing start overseas.
Wow, what an experience and you are only a few weeks in! What was a passing thought a year ago is now a beautiful reality. I’m turning a little green with envy. xx
It looks like you are starting our right, beautiful accommodations and messages. I look forward to following your journey. Love Laura
Wonderful start!
Thanks for the updates, guys. So glad you got to see Debbie in Boston too. That’s great. Glad you went back for another massage and that it was a bit gentler! Miss you too, but getting your posts makes me feel like I’m there with you.
